A jeep costs LKR 14,000 (Cozy Jeep) or LKR 19,000 (Luxury Jeep) for the whole jeep, not per person. Up to 6 people can share it. On top of that you pay the government park tickets, which depend on how many people are in your group. Our price calculator shows you the full total before you book.

Per jeep. One price covers the jeep, the driver and the fuel, for up to 6 people. The more people you bring, the cheaper it gets for each person. Park tickets are per person, because that's how the government charges them.

The private jeep, a driver who knows the park, fuel, and free pickup from Habarana or Minneriya town. We also collect your park ticket money in advance and the driver pays it at the gate for you. Pickup from further away costs a little extra.

Yes. Everyone with a foreign passport must bring their real passport (not a photo) to the gate, children too. The ticket office checks it to decide which ticket price applies. No passport can mean no entry.

No, nobody can. Tickets are sold only at the park gate, on the day, and the office needs to see your passport. What we do is collect the ticket money with your booking, so the driver pays at the counter and you don't have to handle any cash.

Park fees are set by the government in US dollars and paid in rupees, so the total can move a little with the exchange rate. We settle any difference on the day, up or down, and you can ask to see the ticket receipt.

For elephants, choose the afternoon (2 pm to 6 pm). That's when the herds walk out onto the grass. Mornings are cooler, quieter and better for birds.

The park you book. Before you book, we tell you honestly where the herds have usually been at that time of year, using past seasons and park department information. If you'd rather switch to another park, just ask. Kaudulla costs a little more because it's further away.

All bookings are final. We can't cancel or refund a safari once it's paid, because we pay the jeep owner and reserve the jeep for you as soon as you book. Please check your dates carefully before you pay.

Yes, kids love it. Children under 5 get in free. Kids aged 5 to 11 pay a child ticket. From 12 years old, they pay the adult price. Every child still takes a seat, so they count towards the 6 people per jeep.

Both are private, open-top 4x4s for up to 6 people. The Cozy Jeep is a Mahindra with side-facing bench seats: classic, bumpy and fun. The Luxury Jeep is a Toyota Hilux with padded seats that face forward: smoother and more comfortable.

Nobody can promise that, because they're wild animals. But Minneriya and Kaudulla are two of the best places in the world to see Asian elephants, and in the right season most afternoon safaris see a lot of them.
