When you book with us, you choose your jeep. Most safari companies don't let you. You just get whatever turns up. We think you should know what you're paying for.
The Cozy Jeep (Mahindra)
This is the classic Sri Lankan safari jeep. It has an open roof and two bench seats along the sides, so you sit facing each other. It's bumpy, noisy and a lot of fun. It's also the cheapest way to do a safari.
Great for: backpackers, groups of friends, anyone who wants the real, rough-and-ready safari feel.
The Luxury Jeep (Toyota Hilux)
A newer, stronger 4x4 with padded seats that face forward, like in a car. The ride is smoother and quieter, and it's easier to take photos without twisting around.
Great for: families with small kids, older travellers, photographers, and anyone with a bad back.
Is it worth the extra?
For Minneriya, Hurulu and Gal Oya, the Luxury Jeep costs LKR 5,000 more for the whole jeep. Split between 4 people, that's about LKR 1,250 each, less than a cup of coffee in a big hotel.
For Kaudulla, the difference is only LKR 3,000, because Kaudulla already costs more for the Cozy Jeep. If you're going to Kaudulla, the Luxury Jeep is a very easy choice.
